STEVE FRIEDER – Saxophone, Clarinet, Composition & Improvisation (Croton and Mohegan Lake)
Steve Frieder is a dynamic saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and improviser whose versatility has led him to perform across a wide range of musical styles and stages. Since graduating in 2013 as the valedictorian of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Steve has built a career balancing his love for jazz with vibrant collaborations in pop, funk, and experimental music.
He has performed the national anthem at Citi Field for the New York Mets and at Madison Square Garden for St. John's basketball, and in 2023 completed a world tour with Boy George and Culture Club, including performances at the Hollywood Bowl and the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. Steve is a member of the Brooklyn-based psychedelic funk band Art Thief and the brass band Shag Horns, and he has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists including Shaed, Rio Kosta, PWNT, Sir Woman, Gabi Rose, and Too Many Zooz.
In the jazz world, Steve has shared the stage with legends such as Joe Lovano, Andy LaVerne, Armen Donelian, Bob Meyer, and Kelly Green, and Denman Maroney. He is dedicated to releasing his own original music with works such as Paul’s Promise, The Pink Cassette, and Steve World Vol. 1 and 2. In 2025, he was inducted into the Hendrick Hudson School District Music Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments as a performer and educator. He currently resides in Peekskill, NY.
