MYLES MOCARSKI - Violin, Viola, Piano (Pleasantville and Croton)

 Myles Mocarski has established himself as a versatile and active orchestral violinist across the East Coast, frequently performing in the violin sections of the Washington National Opera, Richmond, Albany, Baltimore Chamber, Annapolis, Reading, Fairfax, Williamsburg, and Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestras, among others. He has appeared as concertmaster with the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra, the Anne Arundel Community College Symphony Orchestra, the Torrington Symphony Orchestra, the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the University of Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic.  He made his debut as a soloist performing Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy with the University of Connecticut Symphony Orchestra in Storrs, CT in December 2015 as a winner of the UConn concerto competition.

A passionate musical ambassador, Myles was recently appointed as an Artist-in-Residence at the Collington Kendall Retirement Community in Mitchellville, MD, where he regularly performs recitals and hosts lectures on classical music and the violin for enthusiastic audiences of varying ages, backgrounds, and interests. Myles was also recently appointed as the music librarian of the Albany Symphony Orchestra. With a strong belief that music should encourage positive change in the world, Myles recorded two pieces by Zachary Friedland for string quartet commissioned by PICES, the North Pacific Marine Science Organization, for the Effect of Climate Change on the World’s Oceans (ECCWO) conference in June 2018.

Myles has appeared at such venues including the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City, the Jorgensen Center in Storrs CT, the Bravo Vail amphitheater in Colorado, and the Phillips Collection in Washington DC. Myles has appeared at other festivals including the National Orchestral Institute and the National Repertory Orchestra.

As an educator, Myles has held numerous positions at universities and music studios across the East Coast. Myles currently holds the position of adjunct professor of violin at Anne Arundel Community College and also serves as an instructor on record at the University of Maryland, College Park. He has taught violin, viola, and piano students of all ages and levels of ability at Harmonic Music Studios, the International School of Music, and the Killingly School of Music. Additionally, Myles has taught masterclasses and coached chamber music at the Elm City Chamberfest in New Haven, CT. Myles has given masterclasses and outreach concerts at numerous public schools throughout Maryland, Connecticut, and Colorado.

During the spring of 2020, Myles founded his own virtual teaching studio, where he has taught and mentored aspiring violinists from around the world. Myles enjoys exploring numerous and varied pedagogical approaches with the students in his studio who have diverse backgrounds, different ages, and varying levels of experience.

Myles received a dual degree in music and speech language hearing sciences from the University of Connecticut in 2016, where he was the recipient of a full-tuition scholarship. In addition, he graduated summa cum laude and as an honors scholar. Myles subsequently completed a Master of Music degree in violin performance and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at the University of Maryland in 2019 and 2023 respectively where he held an ensemble assistantship. His dissertation project focused on music written for the violin by composers from England, Ireland, and Scotland.
