Jack holds a BFA from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. In addition to teaching privately, he has taught percussion and drum set in the Bedford and Edgemont School Districts, at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, Bramson’s Mt. Kisco School of Music, all in Westchester, the Hart School in Stamford, and the St. Augustine School of Fine Arts in NYC.
Mr. Evans has had more than 170 students named to Westchester All County Bands, NY All State Bands and Orchestras. His students have received scholarships to the New England Conservatory of Music, Julliard’s Precollege Program, Yale University, the Berklee College of Music, the Hartt School of Music, John Hopkin’s Peabody Institute, Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Program and the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
His drum set studies encompass independence, chart reading, soloing, transcriptions and rock, jazz, blues, Latin and Brazilian styles. Jack’s lessons also incorporate elementary to advanced snare drum technique, reading, NYSSMA and PAS rudiments, mallet and tympani studies. He prepares students for elementary through high school concerts, All County and NYSSMA auditions, Levels I-VI, as well as college auditions.
As leader of the rock, blues, jazz group Reverend Zen, Mr. Evans is the recipient of 70 global music industry awards. Those include honors from the Los Angeles Music Awards, the Billboard World Song Contest, the UK Song Contest, ABC Radio Networks Fame Games Effigy Awards, in Spain, the Australia Song Contest, France’s 100% Song Contest in Paris, the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards, VH1’s Song of the Year Contest, Denver’s Golden Wave Music Awards, LA’s Unisong International Song Contest, WCH Radio in St. Louis, the Singer-Songwriter Awards in London and ASCAP in NYC, as well as airplay and press coverage in North America, South America, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Europe.
