LUIZ EBERT - Drum Instructor

Luiz specializes in Brazilian drumming, but enjoys teaching all genres and is knowledgeable in all major Popular styles (Rock, Latin, funk, pop).  A graduate of City College of New York (B.F.A of Fine Arts in Music with Cum Laude Honors) and a Masters in Jazz Performance earned from the prestigious Aaron Copland School of Music, Mr. Ebert studied with several advanced jazz instructors including world-class drummer/artist Billy Hart. He has vast experience teaching children and young adults, emphasizing in hand technique and time concepts. He has been a mentor for after school music programs as a drum set teacher for "Music on the Go" in Brooklyn, Musika lessons and Music on Wheels programs. Luiz has enjoyed working with middle school and high school students as a band instructor and has taught private drums, percussion and beginning piano, serving students in Westchester for several years.  He also worked with observation, evaluation and improvement of teaching techniques for children ages 8-10.  He was a Professor of Brazilian Ensemble at The Collective School of New York.  Luiz can be found frequently performing with several bands, specializing in Latin Jazz styles and is the co-founder of the Brazilian music trio NYChoro, performing regularly in New York City for 2 years.
