J.J. Clarke is a versatile, well-rounded musician, clinician and instructor proficient in Pop, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Big Band, R&B, Funk and Country. She has been a professional musician and teacher for the past 17 years.
As an instructor, J.J. is always eager to share her love and knowledge of music and drums with her students. She works with all levels and ages. Lessons are customized to the ability and interests of the student. J.J. believes that ear training is paramount in developing musical drummers. In 2012, she created J.J. Clarke’s Drum School.
As a musician, J.J. performs with several bands in various styles in the Tri-State area. She has opened for and shared the stage with such performers as Sue Foley, Carmen Leggio, the Bacon Brothers, Sonny Landreth, Roy Hargrove, and Greg Allman. She has also recorded with numerous artists.
J.J. studied drums privately with Nick Mangini for 20 years. She attended the University of North Texas as a member of its Jazz Studies program from 1995-1997 and completed her Bachelor of Art’s degree in Liberal Studies at SUNY Purchase.
