Percussionist Barbara Allen has been playing drums and percussion in the New York City area since 1984. Currently residing in Putnam county, these days you can find Barbara performing as timpanist of the Bronx and Taconic Operas, teaching West African drumming for adults and children, doing music outreach programs through the Westchester Children’s Museum, and teaching privately.  She has coached ensembles, presented student recitals and arranged trips and concerts for her students.

A popular working musician,, Barbara has been seen as a drumset player for many musicals. including Big River, In the Heights, Grease, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors and many more.  She is a primary percussionist with Collegium Westchester, Gateway Classical Music Society, Westchester Band, Bronxville and has played with numerous Big Bands, Septets, Orchestras, Chorales and local chamber ensembles.
