ALLISON SHAPIRO - Saxophone and Woodwinds (Croton and Mohegan Lake Locations)

Allison Shapiro is a very accomplished educator and musician.  She went to the University of Massachusetts- Lowell where she studied saxophone performance and music education.  During her time at UMass, she took lessons to become a woodwind specialist on flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon.  After graduating in 1996, she received a full scholarship to the prestigious Hartt School at the University of Hartford.  There she studied bassoon and majored in Music Education with a conducting emphasis. 

As a full time instrumental music teacher, she instructs flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone and percussion instruments.  Allison is the only music teacher in Westchester County to receive the prestigious Mr. Holland’s Opus Grant.  She has written other grants totaling over $10,000 in prizes.  Allison has performed in both local musicials and wind ensembles.  As a former member of the Hudson Valley Wind Symphony she performed on bassoon.
